In the Autumn of 2008 I asked Tim Stone to design and maintain a website for my daughter, Josephine Goddard, a young classical singer. I wanted a website where she could post news about concerts and competitions and where recordings and videos of her singing could be placed. It was obviously important that the website was attractive to look at and easy to use and would be easy to find from common search engines.
Initially I gave Tim an outline of the different pages that we would need, and he produced some ideas which we discussed and refined. For example, my daughter had strong ideas about the colours and fonts she wanted.
Once the basic pages were in skeleton form I emailed all the information to Tim and he constructed the website. I was particularly keen to have examples of my daughter singing as the website was opened.
Tim has been conscientious about initially making and then maintaining the website. Any information, new pictures or videos are quickly added as soon as he receives them. If I spot errors he is quick to remedy them. I am sure there have been many technical issues he has had to contend with, such as ensuring the website opens in all commonly used browsers. If I made any suggestions which were unworkable, Tim has been able to come up with very good compromises which have looked and sounded good but which have been easier for him to work with.
I have been particularly pleased that Tim has been able to give the website high prominence so that it is near the top of the options in search engines, so that anyone looking casually for the site will find it quickly.
